About Gusa
GUSA stands for Ghana University Sports Association. It is an association that organises sporting activities for students in member institutions. Although the association was originally formed for public universities in Ghana, the constitution was reviewed in 2013 to allow private universities to join.
Currently, GUSA has a membership of Seven (7) institutions with a total enrolment of over 200,000 students. GUSA is guided by a Constitution, Strategic Plan and Operational Guides.
The overall decision making body of GUSA is the Council (General Assembly). It is composed of the following representation from each member institution:
- Head of sports management team
- Registrar or Representative
- All full time sports coaches
- Two student general sports secretaries (male and female)
The Council constitutes the following management units:
- Executive Committee (members elected)
- Technical Committee (All sports coaches; Chairperson elected as member of Executive Committee)
- Committee for Development of Female Sports (All female members of Council; Chairperson elected as member of Executive Committee)
- Student Committee (All student members of Council; Leader chosen on institutional rotation)
- Patrons (All heads of member institutions; Play advisory role)
