Guideline for Admitting New Members

Qualification

Membership is open to Public and Private Universities in Ghana that are duly accredited.
  1. Application indicating the following
    • University wide  management committee or board in charge of sports and recreation – provide name of Chairperson/Director (member of GUSA Council)
    • Registrar or Representative. Provide name of person (Member of GUSA Council)
    • University wide technical Unit in charge of sports and recreation. Unit must have a minimum of two coaches, one of whom shall be the head coach (preferably, at least one should be female). Provide names of all coaches (Members of GUSA Council and Technical Committee)
    • Two general sports secretaries, at least one of whom shall be a female. Provide names (members of GUSA Council and Student Caucus)
    • Head of institution (member of Committee of Patrons)
    • Declaration to abide by the provisions of the constitution of GUSA
    • Signature of head of institution
  2. Upon receipt of an application, the Executive Committee (reps) will
    • Visit institution to verify declarations in application.
    • When necessary, give provisional membership to institution, pending ratification by Council. Institutions granted provisional status may attend GUSA meetings/competitions as observers.
    • Make recommendation to Council for approval or otherwise.
    • Inform Committee of patrons and member institutions about Council’s decision.
    • Provide orientation to newly admitted institution.
